Torben Anderson

Director – RBA Acoustics

Torben has circa 30 years’ experience within acoustic consultancy.  He takes a very hands-on approach to working with project teams and is proud to have cultivated excellent working relationships with a large number of highly-valued clients across a wide variety of sectors.  He represents a number of management companies and residential landlords where issues around changing floor finishes are regularly encountered.

As a result of his experience and the in the field, Torben often acts as an expert witness having given evidence on more than 40 occasions in both criminal and civil matters.

Adam Bailey

Director – EK Specialist Services

Adam is a photographer and building surveyor who has been a leader in the use of technology and innovation within the property and construction sectors. He set up Kingfisher APS in 2013 to provide drone surveys to the built environment and was the first in the UK to do so. He has built a reputation as the expert working with aerial drones in complex and challenging locations, particularly in compact central London.

Since 2014, Adam has provided Earl Kendrick with professional drone surveys, and in 2020 he and Julian Davies teamed up to launch EK Digital. In 2023 EK Digital was relaunched as EK Specialist Surveys to encompass the extended services provided including thermal surveys and leak tracing.

Adam has a Diploma in Surveying Practice from The University College of Estate Management and a HND in Photography & Digital Imaging from the University of Reading. He has a breadth of knowledge around the built environment and the use of technology within the sector. He is always looking at emerging technologies and uses of existing systems that change the way we work to ultimately improve service delivery and understanding of our clients’ assets.

Adam has helped shape and represent the drone industry. He was a founding member of ARPAS-UK, the representative body of the drone industry, and spent 2 years as Vice Chairman of the organisation. In this role, he worked to raise the profile of drone use within the UK and was an active participant in a number of projects including establishing safety partnerships with NATS and sitting on the oversight committee for the MoD and DfT joint Sciencewise public engagement project.

Prior to working with drones, Adam spent over 10 years working as a surveyor and property manager in residential block management, in both client and freeholder roles. He understands the needs and challenges within this sector and provides solutions based on this knowledge.

Georgia Ball

Trainee Solicitor – Property Management Legal Services Limited

Georgia, specialises in leasehold matters with a particular focus on enfranchisement, right to manage (RTM) and lease variations.

Georgia is graduate of Northumbria University, where she obtained her Master in Law with First Class Honours, achieving her highest grades in property law and practice.  She also gained an honour roll certificate whilst at university for achieving within the top 10% of all law students in the year 2018/2019

Before joining Property Management Legal Services, Georgia worked at HM Courts and Tribunal Service.

Claire Bates

Senior Estate Manager

Claire Bates has been in the Property industry for 12 years. Prior to this she was a manger in the hospitality sector and used her skills acquired during this time to transfer to the property industry. It is these vital customer service skills which have seen her win numerous industry awards, including being named in the Property Management 50 Awards, as well as being shortlisted for ARMA ACEs Property Woman of the Year, and being Highly Commended as Young Property Manager of the Year at the News on the Block awards.

Not one to rest on her laurels, Claire went back to university in 2017 to complete a Masters Degree in Building Surveying, in which she found a passion for historical buildings and sustainability; not things which are often named together! Claire is currently an Associate of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and has recently enrolled to do her APC to become a full member.

Justin Bates

Barrister – Landmark Chambers

Justin is a barrister at Landmark Chambers. On 18 March 2024, he will be appointed King’s Counsel. He practices in the fields of housing, landlord and tenant and property law and has appeared in more than 100 reported/significant cases in the Upper Tribunal, High Court, Court of Appeal and Supreme Court.

Andrew Bulmer


A Fellow of both the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and the Institute of Residential Property Management, Andrew started his residential PRS and leasehold management practice in 1995-2016, taking on the role of UK Residential Director at RICS 2013-2016, then his CEO role at the Institute of Residential Property Management (IRPM), the UK’s leading body for residential property management professionals. He oversaw IRPM’s 2022 merger with the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA), becoming CEO of The Property Institute, the new professional body formed from the merger.

The Property Institute is the UK’s leading professional body for residential leasehold and multi-family property management, representing both individual professionals and businesses alike. Andrew is passionate about raising standards across the property management sectors and encouraging property professionals to be a progressive and ethical force for good.

Phillipa Burgin

Associate Director – EK Retrofit

Phillipa is a Senior Building Surveyor and Associate Director of EK Retrofit. With a Master’s degree in Building Surveying and an Architectural background, Phillipa has an eye for design. Her professional surveying experience spans 8 years in both the residential and commercial sectors giving her a broad knowledge across the built environment. In particular, the effective and sympathetic refurbishment of listed and heritage buildings and since joining EK she has been responsible for the design and delivery of multiple major-works projects of this kind from Victorian asylums and churches to 1960s residential high rises.

Phillipa’s passion lies in improving the thermal performance of existing buildings through retrofit, and more recently since leading EK Retrofit has been advising homeowners, landlords and leaseholders a-like on how they can achieve the minimum the EPC standards, save money on their energy bills and reduce overall carbon emissions.

Annette Cafferkey

Barrister – 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square

Annette is a senior barrister with 30 years’ experience specialising in landlord and tenant cases, including long residential leasehold matters. Annette is instructed by landlords (both private and public), tenants, leaseholders, and other regulatory bodies. She is recognised as a leading junior in both Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners where she is described as ‘a tenacious lawyer’ and ‘brilliant in the most challenging of circumstances.

Zoe Davenport

Head of Marketing – BCH

Zoe qualified as a Quantity Surveyor in 2009 and worked for BCH on a flats specialist project fresh out of University. Continuing on to a Graduate role for the UKs largest retailer and landowner, Zoe returned to BCH in 2013 where she carried out flats, commercial and High Net Worth building surveys. As relationships with Managing Agents, Brokers and Insurers continued to flourish, Zoe now manages Marketing for BCH as well as continuing to be an Ambassador for BCH and the importance of accurate Reinstatement Values.

Julian Davies

Group Managing Director – Earl Kendrick

Julian Davies MRICS MFPWS is recognised as a thought leader for the property industry. With the highly successful Earl Kendrick Building Surveyors as his launch pad, Julian now enjoys a helicopter view of the residential surveying sector and the industry as a whole and likes to give back to both whenever possible. He is regularly invited to bring his invaluable experience to a wider audience by contributing to publications and representing trade associations, as well as speaking at industry events – and often bringing an appreciation of the lighter side of life in the industry.

Jackie Dickins

Lead Trainer – IRPM

Jackie has been the lead trainer for IRPM’s pre-exam workshops for over a decade. Jackie has been involved in leasehold property management for over 35 years both in the private and public sector. Jackie not only has her own consultancy company but is also an associate consultant with the Housing Quality Network a nationwide company that provides consultancy services to social housing providers of leasehold property.

Olivia Ford

Barrister – 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square

Olivia is an experienced barrister specialising in property and social housing. Her practice encompasses all areas of real property, residential and commercial landlord and tenant, anti-social behaviour and disrepair. She regularly appears in the County Court and First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) and represents a wide range of clients from local authorities to RTM companies, and long leaseholders to social housing tenants.

Nigel Glen

After gaining a doctorate in animal behaviour, Nigel enjoyed an extensive international career in the global oil, financial software and investment banking sectors.

He founded a property management company in 2009 and upon selling it in 2016 was appointed as CEO of the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA). He spearheaded the interaction with government ministries, Parliament, TV and the press through the Grenfell and Covid years. He led the 2022 merger between ARMA and the IRPM to create the TPI, becoming its Executive Chair with a particular interest in Net Zero.

In 2023, he left to join the board of Emeria, which with a turnover of €1.5bn is the worlds largest property services company. Nigel is also a special industry advisor for Fixflo, a proptech company, and the ESG advisor to the Residential Freehold Association.

Outside of the day jobs, he maintains a fascination with science and the natural world.

Joe Goss


Joe Goss MIRPM studied Housing & Development at UWE, Bristol. In 1999, he landed in property recruitment working across the social housing, corporate real estate, surveying and block management space over 8 years. After a stint in facilities and office accommodation project management with Bristol City Council, he worked as a block manager in the South West from 2010 to 2020.

Joe managed a range of sites from listed building conversions, mid century blocks and large modern developments. He also worked on the early stages consultation and resident engagement of one of the first substantial ACM re-cladding projects liaising between Freeholder and the recognised RA. Expect amusing anecdotes, lessons learned the hard way and an interactive session!

Salmaan Hassanally

David Hurren

With 30+ years of operational HR and recruitment experience, today David is Chief Operating Officer of the Abbatt Group, comprising Abbatt Property Recruitment and Abbatt Dual Management.

David’s detailed knowledge of recruitment processes and talent strategies including outsourced staffing solutions led him to successfully establish the award-winning Abbatt Dual Management. This innovative employment model has delivered great results for clients freeing up property management time and creating cost-savings along with an increase in staff satisfaction levels. Setting up staffing structures for 150+ residential developments by TUPE transfer and team restructures, David has played a significant role in reshaping the employment model within the residential property sector.

David advocates the importance of training and supporting staff and considers this vital to delivering long-lasting results. This is supported by Abbatt’s CPD Accredited Concierge Academy and FPA Accredited Fire Marshal Training.

Outside of work David enjoys playing pétanque and has managed the English team in numerous World Championships!!

Rayan Imam

Barrister – 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square

Rayan specialises in property litigation with a particular focus on leasehold disputes and claims pursuant to the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 involving resulting/constructive trusts. Rayan has experience in the Upper Tribunal and regularly appears in the First-Tier Tribunal and the County Court in the full range of landlord and tenant matters.

Rayan acts for landlords, tenants and managing agents in the full range of leasehold disputes including forfeiture, service and administration charges, enfranchisement, breach of covenant and right to manage. Rayan is praised for being imaginative and robust in her approach to cases.

Olivia King

Trainee Solicitor – PMLS

Olivia, is law graduate, specialising in leasehold litigation.

Olivia is currently studying for her master of laws.  Her dissertation focuses on the consequences of ground rent obligations for homeowners and whether such ground rents can be justified.  Her dissertation analyses the extent to which the impacts of “onerous” ground rents have been addressed through legislative and non-legislative means.

Dr Shaun Lundy

Director of Strategy and Innovation – Tetra Consulting Ltd

Shaun is a Chartered Safety and Health Practitioner and Chartered Building Engineer, with over 25 years of expertise in health, safety, and fire risk management. Currently serving as the Director of Strategy and Innovation at Tetra, Shaun is also recognised for his academic contributions as a visiting academic at the University of Greenwich. He further extends his expertise as an external examiner at the University of Portsmouth and in Malta.

Actively involved in shaping industry standards, Shaun collaborates with The Property Institute and the Building Safety Alliance to address the implications of new legislation on Building Safety. In the manufacturing sector, he plays a pivotal role as the Chair of the Health, Safety, and Wellbeing Policy Committee for Make UK, contributing significantly to industry-wide safety practices.

Shaun’s past accomplishments include leading the Occupational Safety and Health Consultants Register (OSHCR) as Chair and being a founding member of the HSE’s Myth Buster Challenge Panel. His commitment to the field is further exemplified by his doctoral research focusing on professional ethics in health and safety practice, a study he undertook while volunteering on the Professional Ethics Committee at IOSH. He continues to influence the industry through his involvement with IOSH, serving as a member of the IOSH Construction Committee.

Shaun’s research interests are as diverse as they are profound, encompassing ethics, leadership, education, and competence within health, safety, and fire practice in the built environment. His work not only reflects a deep commitment to advancing standards but also highlights his dedication to mentoring the next generation of professionals in this critical field.

Rupert Mackay

Director – Data Energy/DMG Delta

Rupert has worked with residential managing agents for over 30 years, delivering energy solutions for large community-based schemes. More recently, this has included the relevance of heat networks and their contribution to the low carbon economy.

A CIBSE qualified Heat Network Engineer, Rupert provides support and advice on most challenges faced by property managers. It’s a complex world, and the recent energy crisis has presented added complications for both property managers and residents.

Rupert will provide insights on how property managers can get the most from their energy, whilst reassuring residents that their interests are being catered for.

Howard Nicholson

Director – JCF Property Management Ltd

Howard is Head of Property and a Director at JCF Property Management, based in Putney, South West London where he has been for the last 3 years. His property management career began in 2007 at a regional firm in Surrey which expanded quickly, winning awards for excellent customer service. Howard then moved to take on the role of Operations Manager at a national managing agent where he provided training and support for regional teams around the country. Howard then moved to a Head of Property Management role in Marylebone, London where he was heavily involved in appointing and training on-site porters, concierge staff and building managers. Before working in property Howard was a primary school teacher, so he is well versed in handling problematic leaseholders and is passionate about training and empowering staff in all aspects of their role.

Malcolm Perryman


Malcolm joined IRPM in 2020 having worked for eight years at RICS. Malcolm’s early career was in the construction industry trade press working on national weekly titles The Architects’ Journal and Construction News.

Jeff Platt

Managing Director – Section20 Ltd

Jeff is a previous Chairman and Chief Executive of the IRPM and, for the last 20 years, has been heavily involved in developing professional qualifications, standards and training within the property management sector.

He is a Fellow of the RICS with 40 years’ experience of both commercial and residential property management.  Since 2003 he has run his own consultancy assisting with all aspects of leasehold property management and training for clients in both the public and private sectors.

He was the lead author of the RICS Good Practice Guide on Mixed – Use Property Management and the property management section within the RICS UK Residential Property Standards and is currently the lead author of the RICS Service Charge Residential Management Code (4th edition).

He is a Valuer Chairman of the First-Tier Tribunal (Property Chamber), often acts as an expert witness and is a regular chairman and speaker at conferences with his own inimitable style of wit and irreverence.

Bill Pryke

Director – EK Licence to Alter

Having graduated from university in 1989 with an Arts Degree, Bill decided to change track and enter the world of surveying.  Bill gained his Diploma in Building Surveying in 2003 and gained vast experience in the residential property sector.  Bill was one of the first to join the newly formed Institute of Residential Property Management and has been a member ever since.

Bill began heading up the surveying department for Crabtree Property Management, a large residential property management company, in 1997 and established a separate company within the Crabtree group offering general surveying services.  Bill then joined the Earl Kendrick group in 2016 as a Building Surveyor.  In 2019, EK Licence to Alter was established which deals exclusively with alterations to residential flats and commercial units, mostly in central London.

Paul Robertson

Managing Director – Midway Insurance Services Limited and 1st Sure Flats

Paul is managing director of Midway Insurance Services Limited, the parent company to 1st Sure Flats, recognised as specialist brokers in the block insurance market and six-times winners in the Property Management Awards as well as winners in last years ARMA ACE awards.  Paul is passionate about ensuring the right outcome for flat owners who are the ultimate beneficiaries and pay the premium.  He regularly gives lectures and speaks on best practices in the leasehold insurance market, and is considered one of the country’s leading experts in insurance for blocks of flats as well as being known for his ways to make insurance a more interesting topic. His book – Robertson’s insurance principles for leasehold flats is widely accepted as the go to reference for property managers.

As always with Paul speaking expect the unexpected from this lively and animated speaker.

Rob Robertson

Managing Director – Robertson Property Consulting Limited

Rob has been involved in residential block management for over 35 years. He has held positions ranging from Property Manager to Managing Director/Partner. He has also been an owner and director of several successful support businesses. He has a proven track record in developing individuals, departments and businesses.

In 2021 he set up Robertson Property Consulting Limited and he currently works with a range of agents and support businesses around the residential property sector. He is predominantly focused on mentoring, training and business development for a diverse group of clients.

He has a passion working with people and helping them achieve success.

He is an innovator and a strong believer that hard work and determination are essential ingredients in reaching successful conclusions.

Spiros Savvides

Director, Head of M&E Services – EK London

Spiros has joined EK London to head up our brand-new Building Services division. Spiros is a veteran of the mechanical, electrical and plumbing industry, having begun his career way back in the 1980s. In the decades he has spent in the profession, he has only worked for three companies, preferring to commit himself for the long term. These have included a large, multi-service contractor working on prestigious projects in London, a dynamic engineering consultancy based in Berkshire and his own small practice specialising in the retail sector.

Throughout his career, Spiros has sought to cultivate lasting relationships with clients, with the result that he has earned an unrivalled reputation for delivery. His passion for going above and beyond the call of duty when looking after clients’ interests means his values and priorities are perfectly aligned with Earl Kendrick’s. Spiros looks forward to working with existing and new clients so they can have absolute confidence when it comes to their building services needs.

Philippa Seal

Barrister – 4-5 Gray’s Inn Square

Philippa has a property and general commercial practice with particular expertise in the field of landlord and tenant.

She represents claimants and defendants at all levels including in the High Court in the Queen’s Bench and Chancery Divisions, in the Companies Court, and in the County Courts throughout England and Wales.

She undertakes fast track and multi-track trials, applications and interlocutory hearings. Philippa also accepts work under the Bar’s Direct Public Access Scheme.

Helen Sheldon

Director – RBA Acoustics

Helen is a Director with RBA Acoustics and heads the Manchester office, joining the company 2017 having previously worked for other building acoustic consultancies since graduating from the University of Salford with a degree in Physics with Acoustics.  Helen has extensive experience with both residential and office buildings including both design stage and troubleshooting input.

Helen is heavily involved with STEM outreach works, regularly speaking in schools, and was part of the ‘Bedtime Stories for Very Young Engineers’ project, which was funded by a Royal Academy of Engineers Ingenious Grant.

Colin Stokes

Managing Director – Adiuvo

Colin Stokes, has over 20 years industry experience. Initially working in property management he went on to found and still runs adiuvo, the UK’s number one out of hours call handling service with over 1 million units and a history of managing over 950,000 individual emergencies alongside recently launching Renovo, a reactive repairs company.  Colin is a proptech enthusiast, investor and developer with several AI products, both internal and external launching in 2024.

Mark Stuart

Head of recoveries – Property Management Legal Services Limited

As head of recoveries, Mark takes a firm but fair approach to arrears recovery.

Mark oversees the recoveries team of fee earners and assistants,  to deliver a high level of service to our clients.  Service delivery is at the heart of what we do.  And communication is key.

Mark is popular amongst clients, and is recognised for his straight-forward and accessible advice.

Before diverting his legal career to private practice, Mark spent over 25 years in the police force.

Alan Wake

CEO – National Leasehold Group (NLG)

Alan has over 20 years experience within the property management sector specialising in Leasehold Management within the Social Housing sector. Since 2016 he has been CEO of the NLG, the national networking group for Housing Association and Local Authority Leasehold Managers. He has held senior roles at a number of HAs, including an MD role in the For-Profit RP sector. He is a regular speaker at industry events, has held numerous honorary positions within the sector and advises on various sector research projects.

Jonathan Walton

Director  – Whitley Stimpson Limited

Jonathan has been a director for 27 years. Like many of his clients, he owns his own business, which adds to his understanding of the challenges his clients face.

Jonathan is also a Responsible Individual for audit purposes and thus often completes audit assignments, having done audits all of his working life. Jonathan also completes several specialist assignments of which Service Charge accounting is one. He also conducts Solicitors Regulation Audits on client monies, as well as Estate Agents and letting Agent Audits.

Eleanor Wilkinson

Trainee Solicitor – PMLS

Law graduate Eleanor is a trainee solicitor, and part of our litigation team at Property Management Legal Services.  Eleanor works alongside Cassandra and specialises in contested service charge disputes.

Eleanor studied the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School achieving a distinction overall in her studies. Her highest grades were in Property Law and Practice and Advanced Civil Litigation.

Cassandra Zanelli

Solicitor and CEO – Property Management Legal Services Limited

Cassandra Zanelli, Solicitor and CEO at Property Management Legal Services Limited, is widely recognised for her expertise in the industry. Amongst her industry related qualifications, she is a fellow of IRPM and an associate of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). She is a member of the TPI’s Commonhold and Leasehold Expert Group (formerly the ARMA advisory panel) and an honorary consultant to the Federation of Private Residents’ Associations.

Cassandra is a regular speaker at conferences, events and seminars, having worked with leading organisations including TPI, ARMA, IRPM, RICS, the Leasehold Advisory Service (LEASE), the FPRA and many more.

She is a leading authority in First Tier Tribunal matters and is regularly called upon to advise and represent her national client base.
